- Doctor of Physics and Mathematics (1981) from Vilnius University (the title of the doctor's thesis "Linear and their subordinated random fields")
- Professor of Vilnius University (1987)
- Corresponding member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (1990).

- Markov random fields,
- self-similar stochastic processes,
- long memory time series and limit theorems, including statistical inference,
- random media and SPDE (in particular, Burgers' equation),
- interacting particle systems.
