Rimantas Rudzkis was born in Kaunas, Lithuania, in 1951. In 1968 he finished a secondary school
in Kaunas and in 1973 graduated with honours from the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (speciality
of computers). In 1978 he maintained a doctoral degree of mathematics at the Vilnius university
and in 1993 a degree of doctor habilitus of mathematics at the Institute of Mathematics and
Informatics. He is head of Applied Statistics Department at Institute of
Mathematics and Informatics.
He works in the fields of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, and its applications.
His main interests are in:
- general theorems of large deviations;
- probabilities of large excursions of stochastic processes;
- asymptotic properties of statistical estimates for probability and spectral density;
- applications of statistical methods in economics.
