Henrikas Pragarauskas is a habil. doctor of mathematical sciences, principal research associate
at Mathematical Statistics Department,
and vice director of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics.
He was born in 1947 at Salos, Rokiskis district. In 1964 he finished the J.Balcikonis gymnasium
in Panevezys, in 1969 graduated from the Faculty of automatics at Kaunas technological university,
acquiring the speciality of an engineer of automatics and telemechanics. From 1971 to 1974 he
was a postgraduate student at the Institute of Physics and Mathematics of the Lithuanian Academy
of Sciences. In 1975 he defended thesis for a doctor's degree, in 1984 thesis for the doctor's
habilius degree on problems of controlled stochastic processes. In 1985 he won the Lithuanian
state prize in the field of fundamental sciences. Since 1989 he has been a principal research
associate at Mathematical Statistics Department and since 1990 a vice director of the Institute
of Mathematics and Informatics.
The key trends of his research are stochastic processes, stochastic optimal control, and
non-linear integrodifferential equations. He has published over 50 papers. He is a corresponding
member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, a member of the editorial board of the
"Lithuanian Mathematical Journal", and a member of
the board of the Lithuanian Mathematician's Society.
