Aldona ALESKEVICIENE was born in the Anyksciai district (the former Ukmerge d.), Lithuania, in 1936. In
1954 she finished the Ukmerge Pedagogical School, and in 1959 graduated from the Vilnius University,
Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. In 1964 she defended a thesis for a candidate (PhD) degree, and in 1981
a doctoral thesis (doctor habilius) in mathematics at the Mathematical Institute of the Uzbekistan Academy of
Sciences. In 1989 a professor's title was conferred on her, she become a member of the International Bernoulli
Society of probability and mathematical statistics.
A.Aleskeviciene is working at the Probability Theory Department of Institute Mathematics and
Informatics.
The field of interest is:
- limit theorems for sums of random variables related to a Markov chain, in the case of a stable limit law;
- investigation of asymptotic properties of renewal process distribution;
investigation of asymptotic properties of distributions of functionals (related with the so-called boundary value problems) of sums of independent random variables;
- investigation of large deviation probabilities for some non-linear statistics (so-called U-statistics, L-statistics, and others);
- investigation of asymptotic properties of distributions of sums of independent random variables, when limiting distribution in Poisson law.
